Default S type engine help

Okay I know this is a "waste" and i mind as well buy and s type r but thats not the advice im looking for. Im trying to decide on a big change to my baby (2001 s type 4.0) she has 110K miles and is still running strong...needs tensioners as it ticks. Im trying to decide on a motor swap or a turbo setup. basicly what i need to know is

1. does my v8 have the same internals as a stype r v8
2. if not could i swap parts in or is the block built stronger
3. would ether of the new jaguar v8s be a direct swap (the 4.2 or the 5.0)
4. is there an engine out there that wouldnt be a terribly hard swap but would serve as a better base
5. bulit proof trany suggestion for when it goes

Only a few things I can say...

First, anything can be made to fit. Second, saince you can't tune (reprogram) the jag ECU then any boost you put on it will turn your motor into a time bomb. In order to pull of a motor swap you will have to swap out the computers as well saince you can't tune it. Any real mod need a custom tune (on the dyno is prefered) to get not only the max performance, but to make it safe!

For the time and money, regardless of what advice you are looking for... Buy a STR!

Maybe read through this thread.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-engine-33719/

This fella seemed to have the knowledge and ability to do a complicated swap. But the last post was in March and at that point he got stumped with making the electrical system work.

most stock fuel injection system's will compisate up to 4psi ( i,e Most ) I dont know what the compression is in the 4.0 but if it higher than 10.5 than you would be risking your engine to test it.

I dont know if any one has tried it on a jag but I used a HKS AIC on a 98 camaro Z28 and was able to turn it up 8 psi after a about 15 good runs on a chassis dyno. but to use that you have to add 8 more fuel injector's and I that there is not a lot of room under the hood...

The HKS AIC Si can controll up to 8 fuel injector's...
but me personaly... I would not even try that on a jag unless you put a better set of rod's and piston's in it.

im still waiting to hear if the na internals are the same as the sc i would imagine yes because it would save money... is there a thread that goes over a na to sc swap just so i can see all the differences...maybe do an ecu swap.... from what i have been able to find the sc runs 12 psi so if i had t sc engine minus the sc would it be easier to turbo?

it probably would be.

I rather dimly (oh how appropriate!) recall a thread about changing engines that's not mentioned above. Think it's about going to 4.2 from 4.0 and is likely in the site's General Tech or Engine or similar part. Sorry I can't recall which. May even be xjrguy (Steve) or motorcarman (Bob) or another tech who put it up. It was way above my head.

No, the SC's internals are not identical to the 4.2's let alone the 4.0's.

Hate to say it but I reckon sell 4.0 and buy STR is the easiest, cheapest etc way to do it.
