Default s type and x type

hi all , how much off these two cars share the same parts, service parts,etc as it seems most places list parts compatable with both cars.

would a haynes manual for the x type cover the basics,for brakes, engine service, etc

Few in common (beware parts places that should know better) and forget the Haynes. Use the free workshop manual. Ditto parts catalogue.

The S-Type is streets ahead of the X-Type except in its 4WD version in snow etc.

I can't think of any components that are common to both X and S types.

Some consumables of the V6 are likely the same such as the oil filter. Not very exciting.

As the engine is mounted rather differently with a different gearbox between the models a fair number of items cannot be the same.

I really wonder why anyone would keep asking, though!!

True, but a 3.0 from an S-type can't be installed as-is in an X-type.

Not sure why interchangeability from one model to another is a conern is any case. The question has come up several times before.

The only commonality S-type parts have with another vehicle is a like-year Lincoln LS....and that isn't a long list either. Wouldn't surprise me that an X-type 3.0 has commonality with the same FWD components found in a Ford Taurus.

Not really. It does have some parts in common with the Ford Mondeo or 'Contour' as we called it here.

Wow...forgot about the Contour. Senior Moment. I knew it was a "mass market" Ford, though. Coffee must have wore off.

I have an 03 STR, and it is a vinyl dash. Unfortunately Jaguar was rather cheap with the door panels and dash covering. Ford did save Jaguar, but they never treated it like a like a full on premium brand like the should have.

Full on premium cars don't usually have leather dashes either.
