I bought a 2005 S-type 4.2L that had sitting in storage for years. I have it running and driving fine now after cleaning the gas tank then changing the fuel pump, filters, and transmission valve body.
My wife would like for the radio to work.
The radio comes on as soon as I turn the key and the volume works, but I can not get it to change modes, channels, time, or anything else. It does not ask me for the code.
I do have the radio manual and code card.
Currently is is stuck in the FM mode on the lowest FM channel 87.9 and will not turn off until the ignition key is turn back to off.
Any suggestions???

Maybe one of the buttons is Pressed stuck in so it’s ignoring everything else
I few ideas:
1. reset = disconnect the battery and even hold the plus and minus cable (on the car-side) together, to be sure that remaining charges are gone. Maybe m=wait a few minus, then reconnect battery.
2. This is when normally your radio should ask you for a code. If that is so, either enter your code, or maybe that trick here really works (I don't know): https://www.google.com/search?q=jagu...2roPsKiqmAI_33
3. If all that fails: There is e.g. a Sony radio with a big screen, which can be fitted instead. Those radios are not that expensive, but installation is a lot of work. One of my X-Types came with such a radio. The radio even offers the function of automatically displaying the rear view from the camera - obviously only, if there IS a camera in the back. But the previous owner was too lazy to install that camera. I bought one, installed it, works great.

It is not possiable to fit an aftermaket radio in an S-type with the navigation screen, or at least it is very dificult as the A/C controls are on the screen.
However, I do agree that in an S-Type without the navigation screen an aftermarket double din unit is the way to go.
I did not realize that you had an OE nav Radio. Yes, I would not know, how to go about that.
Anyway, below are the OE non-nav unit in the S-Type and the Sony radio in the X-Type (I just took those pictures and only then I realized that you have a Nav unit - but since I took those pics, I am sending them): OE unit in S-Type
Well I tried buying another Jag s-type radio and everything worked except no sound. The original radio had sound, but none of the buttons worked... only the volume did. I bought a MP3 player and tuned it to 87.9 and it will play thru thru radio just fine. the only difference between the original radio and the replacement was that the part number of the original ends with AG and the replacement AK.
I think they are all just getting old? All the factory stuff I see after 15-20 years it all fails in some way.
If cheap enough try another used one? Heck if your handy make one good unit from several?
Have you checked to see if maybe there is a repair service? With all the electronics in cars there are a lot of repair places. Problem is how to know if they are any good and if they know what their doing? I have had mixed results including additional damage done by the repair place!
