Yes I have installed those on my 2005 STR for a small clunk. It did not fix it.

Do you still have the clonk?, it is driving me bonkers, I have to fix it, I just want to get as much information as I can before i start to strip the rear end down to find the problem.

Yes. It's a fairly small noise and I only get it when taking off at a pretty good rate. I can drive around it easily but it's been there since I got the car 5+ years ago. I am now at 104K miles and it still the same as it was at 33K miles.

Not a big deal but I have read a few other people having this issue.

Default clonk fixed

Hi, I have finally got to the bottom of the problem, I took the car to XJengineeringin Bentley, I was so fed up with the clonk I decided to go to aspecialist, he found that the Diff mounting bolts had been changed, for whatreason we don’t know, anyway the bolts where to long and bottoming out, so hetook them out cut some off re dressed the thread and bolted them up tight, allfixed and no clonk, excellent job.

Interesting. Some of the later cars had diff problems and the diff was replaced but with a different make. Sounds like they used the wrong bolts (maybe reused the old ones).

Are those the same bolts in your picture?

I may take them out one at a time and inspect.

I've just had a 2nd hand diff fitted to mine and ended up with this clonk - fixed by using a couple of small shims to fill the space for each bolt. As suggested, there must be a subtle difference in diff design over the years.

Note though - if Jaguar fit a replacement diff (under warranty for example) it will be an XF unit including replacement driveshafts etc. My replacement was from a S-type though, being 2nd hand.

It looks like maybe Jaguar changed those bushings and removed the openings on all four sides and made the bushing solid?

I installed these inserts.

I have attached the TSB talking about them too.

My 2008 S Type 3.0 had a rear end clunk slowing down and accelerating, and my tech diagnosed the same problem, and did the same repair, as to paullap's car. No more clunks.

I'm betting its still the sway bar end links. Common issue.

According to the noise symptoms you've described, I have a similar noise, I believe my front ones are bad too.

Had same exact noise on my wife's '05 Ford Escape ( Maverick). Problem was sway bar end links.

You spent that much on sway bar bushings? There must of been something more? That's unheard of....
