Default S Type Shutting down randomly

2002 S Type security dash light flashing rapidly. No start until I turn on and off ignition several times. The light goes solid and off and then it will start.
But now it suddenly stalls while driving and I have to go through the motions while stalled in traffic.
What could it be?
Thanks
Mike

What is the age and condition of the battery? A failing or weak battery can cause random DTCs and the MIL to come on as well as other 'electrical issues'.

Could well be the ignition switch / wiring. Take it all apart and check.

Through some advice I replaced the battery the ignition barrel and exciter ring. The car is better but still occasionally will have the same issue.
What else could it be?
Thanks
Mike
