Default SatNav Problem

Hi,

I'm a new member here. I've just bought a 2007 S Type 2.7 diesel which I am enjoying.

The only problem is with the SatNav which won't allow me to set new destinations.

I bought the car from Crewe and the previous owner was registered in Tamworth?. When I collected the car the last address in the satnav was the dealers so presumably the previous owner had used the satnav to find the dealer.

The next day I tried the satnav but it would not let me input any new addresses.
When I open it goes through agreeing the terms etc. and then to nav menu then set new destination. That leads to a screen with several buttons including: address; home; waypoint/ point of interest. The other side of the screen has an area for a map which isn't present and a change button. If I press/touch the address button absolutely nothing happens. If you keep the unit on while driving it identifies your location and tracks your progress; it just won't tell me how to go anywhere.
In an effort to rectify I ejected the cd and put it back and then I deleted all previous addresses; which has made no difference whatsoever. I called at a Jaguar dealer on Saturday afternoon; there was no one in the service team there but the salesman had a look and said that I was doing everything right and that I needed the service team who would probably replace the whole centre console screen fitting.
That sounds like a horribly expensive welcome. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions. It is not covered by the warranty.

I suspect there's a way to reset / clear it but I don't know what it is. (Do NOT mess via the diagnostic menu as that can ruin it.) I can't see replacing it being necessary so put that as a very last resort.

You are in park right (or at least not moving)?

Don't recall this problem being reported by anyone else.

BTW it's a DVD not CD I think.

Maybe needs cleaning?

Failing that maybe try a genuine newer disc and see if it is better. It will normally update the unit's firmware so either leave engine running or have it on charge as if it dies during the update it's very expensive!
