JOsworth thanks for the reply, I have spent some time on Jaguars EPC and I think they only started using the bellypan (undertray) after VIN numbers in the "Nxxxxx" range. My car is pre "Nxxxxx" so what I can see is that some of the early 2000, 2001 s-types didnt have an undertray.

If any of the seasoned members, technicians can confirm I would appreciate it. Thanks again.

Don't know.. I used one of the parts listing pdf's off of the "sticky's" just now at lunch and came up with two part numbers.

XR8044760 and XR8053723.

JPEC does state it is only from M45255 so that may explain it.

Norri, you are correct that is what I was refering to in my previous post. Josworth sorry if I offended you with my "seasoned" coments. But the JEPC does not list an undertray for my car, which has a VIN of Lxxxxx, they appear to have only started using the undertray with VIN M45255 as mentioned by Norri.

Instead of muddying up this thread about service tips, I would post into the thread I linked to earlier.
2001 S type bellypan/undertray? - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
It should be brought back up in there. Maybe ask all the owners that claim to have one, where it came from. The part numbers I listed did not have a year with them.

Default Video on DCCV

Hi, by chance do you have a video on where the DCCV is and how to change it out?

Dual Coolant Control Valve.

Gina, if you are at the front of the car it is on the front left way down at the bottom of the bay near the radiator, follow the hoses coming from the heater core.
Your car will have the five hose valve.

One of my friend told me to go to a reputable indpendant service workshop (e.g. BP) as it would be much cheaper (around $100) with similar service quality as compared to servicing by dealer (previous owner paid $800 for 64,000kms or 48 months service around six months back).

Some data is:
Current kms = 52,500
When I bought 6 months back = 45,500
Previous owner did dealer services at 9,000; 22,000; 37,000; and just before selling at 45,300 kms

Just after I bought the car, I changed all four tyres from Goodyear; and renewed all four brakes discs and pads from dealer. At that time the dealer showed me from last service history that "Suspension, Front rh upper arm bush cracked, front lateral artm and front lower bushing cracked - PNA" and that to fix this two bush-wishbones and arm wishbones would be replaced with total cost of 4,000USD. However he said its not safety related and I can fix them later.

The service manual suggests servicing each year or at 10,000 km but recommends 6 monthly for too hot or dusty (I live in Dubai) conditions.

I am a very very untechnical person so would appreciate any advice as to where and when to take my car for servicing. Does servicing from dealer only means expensive oil change, or is it really worth for untechnical guys like me. Many thanks
You need to get a second quote on the front bushing r/r. I just paid about $500 at an independent Jaguar shop in San Diego to have the front lower control arm bushings replaced. Of course, since I'm responding to a 5 year-old post, you probably don't even have the car any more.

Kobra, I believe that you are correct, Ron probably doesn't own the 2008 S Type anymore.

Thanks for posting what you just paid for R&R a few months ago.

I use hockey pucks instead of wood, just a personal choice, as have used wood blocks in the past.

Car details? Or you can use Search and other threads will tell you. You could even download the workshop manual and look in there.

With so many totally unrelated issues being dredged up here, this near 60 post thread, spanning years of gaps between questions and answers, is totally useless for its original purpose . . . and a great source of frustration for those seeking help, and also those who aim to provide it. Why are so many people so reluctant to start a NEW thread and grace it with a MEANINGFUL title???

OTOH, what a Pandora's Box . . . by 2030, it will address issues for every single part that makes up an S-Type . . . help all those who have given up and gone years before . . . but serve as an omnibus tour of bedtime reading for all insomniacs!

Just my 2c, so shoot me . . . but it's really such a waste of time better spent on threads that are timely, relevant, and to the point. This should be broken up into the 15 or 20 topics that are now hopelessly intertwined.

Cheers,

Ken
