Default Sirrius Satellite radio question

Hi guys. My car has a sirrius satellite receiver mounted in the flip up compartment ahead of the gear shifter. How do I find out if my car has the aux input box or if the unit is just a FM tuner? I'd like to rip out the sirrius or sub it for an ipod cable if possible. I have sirrius at home but I'm not super into it and would prefer an ipod cable if I'm able to....

The factory installed sirrius tuner.. Is a hard wired FM modulated unit. There is no aux input.

You can add the ACM if you want an aux input and basic ipod control - You get 5 playlists... Plus the ability to play files directly off of usb sticks, as well as rca Jack aux in...

Hi guys. So with the factory installed xm, you tune into a certain radio station to get it to work? How does the factory hardwired fm modulated setup work?

I could have sworn that with my car the prior owner said to hit some other button. I just emailed him. I wonder if I have the aux box?

To play the add on tuner you simply turn on the unit and tune your stereo to the FM station the unit is using. If you are not sure that the Sirius unit is playing through the FM radio there is a quick way to test it. Tune in to a normal FM station then turn on the Sirius unit. The FM station you are listening to should "fade" or drop all together. How the FM modulator works is with a box that goes in line with the antenna lead. When the radio is on the box overpowers the antenna.

It is possible to hook the Sirius tuner up through an AUX input. The original owner would have had to put the adapter on the CD Changer input, the same way the ACM works.

So, to find out where the Sirius radio is playing, first try the FM by turning on the FM and Sirius. With both on do a station scan to see if the sirius comes on a station. Mine plays through 93.3 FM. If it isn't playing through the FM try selecting the CD Changer and see if anything is playing through that.

Hmm... my car has the changer, but no magazine in the changer. I wonder if they put it in through the CD changer input. I'm 99% sure it's not FM modulated. If it is through the CD changer port, would there be a little box in the back of the stereo with a standard headphone jack input thing?

I guess I need to read up on how to pull the radio out so that I can take a peek behind the stereo and see how things are hooked up.

If it is the Jaguar Unit it is designed to be installed with a FM Modulator. I just happened to notice that the tuner box that mounts in the trunk has ports for standard RCA Audio Out so it could be modded. I can help you out with the install instructions though...
http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extf...prod/index.jsp

Go here then do a search for Accessory Fitting Instructions.

To make it faster; Type "Satellite" in the search box before you click "get documents". Or just browse, there is a lot of good stuff in there! Let me know if you find it. It's not the unit's operating instructions but it does show how and where all the components are installed.

Oh, BTW, does your unit look like this?

it looks sort of like that, but it's mounted under the flip up door.

Post a picture of it. I've had a bunch of different radios and can probably identify it.

The car comes back from the shop Tuesday. I'll try to snap some photos of it then. Thanks for all the help on this!

Default Sirius Radio Model #- Jaguar XJ8

Hello,
The Sirius receiver on my Jaguar XJ8 has suddenly stopped working. It gets hung up on the initial Sirius screen with the dog logo. As a result, it wont get to the stations and none of the buttons do anything when pressed. The radio is exactly the same one as you have pictured below and believe it was an original unit from Jaguar (is an FM Modulator version that transmits through station 88.3). Do you happen to know the make and model number for this Sirius unit? I am trying to figure out if I can do a hard reset to get it to work again. My hope is to be able to successfully google an owners manual with this make and model number.

Thank you.
