Damp/water in trunk? Remove spare and check carefully.

May just be a seized / burnt out starter motor that finally died.

hmm, might it be the ignition switch?

Welcome to the forum,

It would help if you checked the codes and posted the details.

Don't forget your intro in the new members section.

Place the shifter into "N" then try to start the car.

When you turn the ignition key to "run" - is the "P" illuminated on the shifter? If not, your trans cable could be stretched.

Have a look at the pats light on top of the dash, is it flashing when your ignition is on

If P is not illuminated - the car will not start.

Sounds like the trans cable is stretched, out of alignment or the shifter assembly is broken.

I would get the center console off to check/verify shifter operation.

Did you try to start the car in "N"?

Hi there, can you tell me if the lights go round in sequence on ignition like clocks?

Yes, tried starting in N and still the same, however when you have ignition on, and go back to park it locks into P.

Thanks for help I will check cable

Most scan tools won't connect to the TCM, if it's a 4.2. If it's a 4.0 there is no TCM so of course none will connect! But which tool was tried? If it's one that should work then go network-hunting. It's in the free JTIS.

You could help us all by filling in details as in my sig...

Hi there it a 4.2

Today I inspected the front loom over crash bar..... Not good. Drivers corner lots of corroded wires, passengers corner 50% of the wires are blown out where water has got in, and are all split. Some even broken completely
