Default Is there a way to get rid of the OEM navigation?

I'm interested in buying a 2003 Jaguar s type, but it has the stock OEM navigation with it, but I rather have an aftermarket one and I need to know if there's a way to get rid of it and switch to non navigation. I've search almost everywhere and can't find anything.

It's been covered so is there somewhere.

You can but it's easier to just get a recent sat nav.

Well I don't really want the navigation in the first place. I want to install an aftermarket radio and I can't do that without a non navigation stereo.

So don't buy that one but wait until you find a non nav car. It would be an enormous amount of work and very costly to downgrade a satnav equipped car. The air con controls are linked to the touch screen so you'd lose that.

I don't really have that kind of time. Is it really that hard?
My car got totaled and I'm gonna need a car soon once I get my money from the car insurance.

Yes, I'm afraid it is. On the nav equipped cars the touch screen that controls the nav, the stereo, the air con and just about everything else is connected to the nav controller and the stereo amp via an optical link. The non nav cars just have the stereo wired in conventionally. As I understand it you'd have to strip out the entire system and replace it including the wiring with that from a non nav car. That will cost you a fortune and may not even work.

I can't believe that there is only one S Type for sale in your part of the US.

Hate to say this, but if your primary consideration to buy this car is the radio, and if you don't have some spare time to maintain the car - it may not be the best fit for your needs.
