it depends on the speed you drive at and what load you have in the car, i like the way the car feels with 38 all round but that's just my preference.

You're likely to see recommendations that are all over the map, but which one of them (if any) is a positive recommendation is a complete guess. I'd never go below OEMs spec without defining an actual need and understanding the consequences.

have quick read of this

Tire Tech Information - Air Pressure/Load Adjustment for High Speed Driving

as long as you dont go under the oem psi or over the tire psi rating pick a psi that you feel balances comfort/handling.

Agreed. There is more to tire inflation than "by the book".

For example on a X308, "by the book" would mean 42 psi on any brand tire other than the original factory issue Pirelli P-Zero. Clearly ridiculous, but "by the book".

As a matter of fact, going "by the book", the only allowable replacement tire is the factory issue Pirelli P-Zero.

Even, "the book" gives a range of inflation pressures depending on intended usage.

"the book" is a safe answer for the casual driver with no desire to look further ... it is not always the optimal answer.

If it were the fountain of all knowledge, there would be no need for places like JF.

Yes, 32 in front and 34 in the rear.

I had so many problems with getting the right tire pressure on my XK8. It seemed I was replacing my tires because of center tire wear (over inflated) until I found the right pressure. However, on my S-Type I found the 32 – 34 works well. I now have 40,000mi on my tires and if it were not for a bad ball and 2 worn bushings on one side I would be getting at least another 15,000 on them. My driving has been 80% highway and 20% town. As others have suggested use the 32 – 34 psi it seems to be the right formula.

34/36 is reasonable - but I would advise against it as Gus pointed out above. Stick with 32 psi in front and 34 psi in the rear and check cold tire pressures weekly to obtain maximum usage on tires. Also, rotate every 6K miles...
