Default Totally locked out of car; Key fob is dead

Just went out to go to work and found the electronic key fob is dead.

I saw a U-tube video on how to change the battery.... wife is going to store now as I type to get battery replacement.

So, how do I reprogram key fob? I have no access to inside of car.

you can open the boot with your key, and you can open your door with the key,

Default Correction...

I opened the trunk and found that my battery is completely dead. It gave me no warning such as slow (ignition turning) car start.

I heard that replacing the battery, after battery is installed, that there is a few things that need to be done like stepping on the brake pedal a few times.

Can someone remind me of this process?

You shouldn't need to reprogram normally, but if you do for some reason it is dealer or somewhere with the necessary equipment to do so.

Default Main car battery dead instead of FOB

You'll need to reset the electronic parking brake. Pull it up to apply it and then push it down to release it. That should do it....

I remove my batteries every winter when I store the cars. There is no need for any special procedure--just drive the car. The only time I have had to reset my parking brake system was when I changed rear pads.

Also the window one touch, lower the windows one at a time and hold the button until you hear a click, then raise and wait for the click.
Probably the radio presets too.

Default One final question please....

I just replaced the battery with a brand new diehard and all seems to be well. Thanks to everyone here.

My question is.... on a 2005 s-type v6, if the alternator is under performing or not performing at all, will I get some type of warning light indicator?

If not, when car is running, can I disconnect battery to test alternator? I know you can do it in older cars.

Yes, you should get a warning.

NEVER disconnect the battery with the engine on...you run the risk of frying countless electronics. Check the voltage with a multimeter and the engine running with the battery in place....about 14 volts tells you the charging system is working.
