Default Which transmission do I have??

I used the VIN decoder and it said 6 speed, I've used the search feature with no luck.

From what I have read regarding my issue I think my TC is on the way out. I need to know which tranny I have. I know I read that some are the ZF but how can I tell which mine is?

Also what have you paid to have a new TC installed?

Yes you have the 6 speed ZF. The Ford transmission does not suffer from this and has no reported failures of the TQ clutch lining.

It is an intermittent problem. The car hesitates when accelerating from a stop. I'm not accelerating hard and the sport mode is off. I don't seem to get any surging or anything like that.

Although something troubling happened the other day. I was caught in traffic and the right lane opened up. I hit the sport button and started to accelerate smartly the car BANGED into gear. The weird thing is since then it has not been hesitating on acceleration but of course when I head out to work today it will probably do it again.

The car just passed 100k and I don't know if the tranny service has been performed on it.

I have found new TC's for a 200.00 to 500.00. Am I missing something? Because you figure at $200.00 an hour for labor and say you spent $600.00 on parts that 20 hours of labor!!

I don't mess with these new cars but I can tear down old school cars. I pulled my 4 speed Muncie and changed the flywheel in my 70 Camaro in around 3 1/2 hours and that was just kinda taking my time.

I'm not criticizing you I just don't understand the cost.

Your symtoms don't match the TC clutch problem? What makes you think it's your problem?

I just got off the phone with the Stewart Automotive. They specialize in Jags and Land Rovers and they have worked on this car before. They suspect it may just need the reflash so I will be having that done next week. I hope that's all it is.

One thing the trans hates is the wrong fluid level (too little or too much).
