Default Vac Leak

Ok, I am trying to chase down a vac leak (I'm assuming) as it keeps throwing a code for lean bank 1& 2 with a restricted performance light. I have checked the vac lines on the brake booster and the one that is attached to the pass side valve cover with no luck. Are there any other lines? I pulled off my airbox lid to make sure it was seating correctly, and reattached my intake tube with no luck.

Mike, check: 1. EGR tube to passenger exhaust manifold 2. connection at intake manifold where brake booster vaccume line connects. 3. pre-cat exhaust leak. 4. gaskets that connect charge coolers to blower. 5. hose from intake tube to driver cam cover 6. throttle body gasket 7. vaccume lines going to intake manifold at rear of blower (grey w/black stripe). 8. the torqueing of the engine can rip the rubber connectors at the clamps for the modded air intake tube. 9. loose cam cover will cause a crank case ventilation vaccume leak. 10. intake manifold gasket leak. 11. cracked evap. canister. A smoke machine really helps show the leaks.

Hopefully you can find it!! The STR is not known for vacuum leaks like the V-6 is. So this may be another sign of problems coming with age.

The EGR tube sure looks that way too.

Hmm, the only thing I change in the last few months was the test pipes....It might be a leak at that flange. I guess I got my work cut out for me!

Michael, as I recall the guy down south that ripped Seth off helped a fellow STR member with a vacuum leak that was caused by the Purge Control Canister crack at seam. I recall just a few that have cracked seams to me more on the V8s for some reason.

I know I have posted a granny V6 picture but its the only one that I have. Notice the red PCC in right hand of picture:

Rick, I first test drove a black V6 S-Type before understanding there was such a thing as an STR. Along with its intrigueing interior and exterior styling, I was impressed with the conventionally laid out motor, true dual exhaust, and performance. Not bad for a 3.0.

Check the crankcase ventilation valve hose (round valve on passenger valve cover). The best thing to do is get a smoke test.
