Default Transponder Key Programming

Hey all, just a quick question. I came across some VM's with the SDD software v138 and v130 . I had lost my keys and purchased replacements as well as cut the keys al the local dealership. I am looking to program the new keys to my 2001 Jaguar S-type (4.0L) and am looking for the cable online. I have come across this cable, and would like to know if in theory it would work with the Jaguar software found on this website in order to program my key ....

Software : https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=108460

Cable :

Check the compatability of that unit for your specific car.....the manufacturer should have a table listed.....i i have no personal experience with that unit....

I am unsure if SDD130 will work on an x200 2001 4.0 using any of the newer interface cables that are available now.

I think IDS 124 is the one to use for your car, this is included in SDD 130 and it will auto switch to IDS when you enter your VIN number in SDD.
(I think the change to SDD was at the same time the 4.2L V8 replaced the 4.0L.)
However the later interface cables like the mongoose for example will not work with IDS.
As far as I know you will need the earlier VCM (1) interface. The VCM2 that is available now will not work with IDS so is no good for your car.
I think the IDS software looks for and then constantly poles the specific interface IC (chip) that is only in the earlier interface/lead, if there is no response or it gets the wrong response it goes into error mode and will not work. It is this IC that is no longer made. There may be a way to stop the IDS software from looking for this specific IC as in terms of functionality the later IC is compatible, it just has a different electronic signature.
Sadly VCM (1)'s are not made any more and are very hard to find these days.

Please note that as I have an 05MY car and can run SDD130 I have had no experience of this myself. Others on here should know more.

Like Mellow said, the earlier cars used IDS not SDD so ymmv..... that being said, i used this https://www.jlridssddmongoose.com/ho...able-usb-16gb/
but i have a 2006 and after the learning curve it seems to be working fine.

Yes, the mongoose will work fine with SDD, but it will not work with IDS. If you put an early X-200 vin number in to SDD it will automatically switch to IDS and with a mongoose you will just get an error message!

The Mongoose-type cable REQUIRES SDD125 or later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You will need a Rotunda VCM for all versions of IDS 42 to SDD 124.

Just to add I think you will find that the Rotunda VCM 2 (VMCII) will not work.
You need the early version of the Rotunda VCM that is no longer available.

As I said in a previous post I have not had this issue myself as I have an 05 car that uses SDD130.
However you may find an answer using google, I read somewhere that the latest Mongoose clone will work with IDS if you use the driver that came with the mongoose, not the driver that comes with SDD130.

Obviously I have no idea if this works and it will cost you to find out.

I have never seen anything like that before. I doubt that it will work with a Jaguar?
Might be a MANGOOSE type VCM?

Isn't mangoose vcm II? I looked up for cables of type VCM I and this is what I came up with. It's for Ford's/Mazda's from 1996-2006
