Default Trunk or Bootcover flies up on opening

Is that the springs? Get's worse in the cold, which has started here. It seems counter intuitive since the spring is extended on closing, so why does it have more force now in the cold.

Counter acting gas strut springs.

What year model we messing with here.

One is the opener, the opposite "slows" that opening to the gracefull action we all want.

My Black one is a tad "fast" at opening when colder, and fine when warmed.

I will source some new struts once summer is over and this fast opening annoys me once more.

Mine is s crap shoot. Unlocks and opens, or just unlocks and doesn't open.

I guess the struts are getting weak.

I gotta figure out how to set up my garage info! It's 2001 S-type, And same thing about the "sometimes opens", other times I have to use the "Fonzie" elbow on it do make it pop up. I often wonder if it was in an accident at some-point, afraid to look now.

I can't see any struts back there.

Don't let the trunk fly open. The trunk electrical harness rides along the trunk support and puts stress on the harness (a well known point where wires get crimped or break) recently dealt with this issue.

Zigzewel
If you want to put in your car details but are not sure.

Click on User CP (top left black strip)

Click on Edit Signature (left side column)

Put in your car details in the blank edit signature box

You can then preview, edit, and save signature (bottom of edit signature box) and upload a photo.

This will put your information below a line under your posts and you won't need to type them in future.

Hmmm....
Might explain my boot open problem. Since I'm not the only one opening the trunk I suspect that may have caused that problem and the rear sensors not working either.
Thanks

Finally got the trunk cleared out and stuck my head in and found the gas strut. Picking one up from the wrecker tomorrow. I will slowly whittle away at that junkyard S-Type.

Let us know if the used strut works. Struts do wear out and I am not sure I would use a used one.

Maybe if you can get it cheap enough? Still might not be any improvement too.
