2003 S-Type. I am definitely out of my wheelhouse, I am trying to install a pioneer double din head unit AVH – 521EX everything appears to be functioning except I get no audio. Every video I’ve watched on YouTube shows I need an install facia and a small wiring harness with an antenna adapter. I bought exactly what they said, hooked it up. Everything works, but I don’t get any sound. I noticed two disconnected what I think, fiber optic connections that used to go to the original stereo are not connected anywhere, I am getting out of my new head unit because I tapped in a temporary speaker at the outputs and I heard audio. What the heck am I missing? I assume this thing must have some kind of external amplifier someplace that needs to get turned on I know it has a CD changer in the trunk , but that’s about it.

 

OK, upon further investigation, I definitely have to have those two little fiber optic connections hooked up. I tried the factory radio without having those installed and I also got no audio. So there must be some kind of adapter. I need to get the factory amplifier to turn on with an aftermarket head unit. But nothing I see online shows that I need anything like that and doesn’t even give me a part number to purchase.
