Default Turn signal out again

This is probably a no brainer for you guys but here it goes. I just replaced my front right turn signal not even two weeks ago and over this past weekend it went out again! Today the message displayed on my dash went away and it was working again. (No more annoying fast click, click, click.) I know it's possible for the bulb to be loose but in the event that it's not does it mean I have a short somewhere? And is it going to cost an arm & a leg? I have an extended warranty but was told this sort of thing is not covered.

Fuse... right! Duh on my part! lol okay... one more stupid question... The dealership replaced the bulb when I had it in for an oil change.. how can I check it myself? Does that headlight cover come off or is there another way to get to it? And for all of you that are wondering if I'm a blonde ... Yes I amLOL

UPDATE: Over this past weekend I finally found the time to check out my turn signal issue. I checked the bulb and it wasn't loose.... so then I went into the fuses and tried replacing it but it did not do the trick. So- does this mean I have a short?? Btw... the fuse looked fine to begin with but I changed it anyway just to see if it would fix the problem.

I'm thinking I should take it to the dealer but don't want to be socked with a huge bill.

If you have a short it usually happens right away not waiting for 2 weeks to blow a bulb. Wherever you bought the bulb have them check it. check the wiring goining to the socket.

That is what I'mafraid of... Maybe I should take it back to them and have them check to see if thebulb was faulty to start. If it is not the bulb I'm not sure what direction to go...

Have you tried switching the left and right side bulbs to eliminate the bad bulb possibility.

I also had the problem that turned out to be shorting between the contact in the plastic bulb holder and the contact on the bulb, I managed to clean it up with emery and it is good for now but I expect it will need a new holder soon. It may be worth having a look to see if you have something similar.

Good luck!

good point norri, the bulb holder/socket thing may be damaged, or the contact inside that touches the pins may be bent. Swapping the holders too is a good idea. My bulbholders could be unplugged at the wires. Can yours?

Actullay it's funny that you mentioned that because I thought of that after the fact. I am going to try switching out the bulbs. If that doesn't solve the problem I will also look into the contact between the bulb and the holder. I never thought of that. That is why I like this site... because there is a lot of good advice from guys like you. Thank You Guys!

Gladly u-girl, of course that is a last resort option. Count on giving yourself maybe another 10-20 minutes for each outing to compensate. (trying not to smile)
