Default Went drag racing last night again

Because I have not been in a while, and I wanted to see how bad my wheels would kill my launches I decided to go last night. Before when I took my car to the track I was 13.3s-13.4s at 103-104mph.

Just to refresh everyone on what my car currently looks like (and because I like to show it off)

Those are 20" wheels with a 275/35/20 in the back (Nitto 555s)

Also, I have intake, and straight through exhaust including test pipes (H&R springs as well but I am sure that hurts more than helps).

So run #1 vs 2003 RS6

Beech Bend 4/13/13 (1 of 2) - YouTube

Massive wheel spin. I have never felt so slippery on a track before. I should have cleaned the tires off better and lined up in the grooves, but I didn't. It didn't get traction till 3rd gear.

15.706@ 98.55

Run #2

Beech Bend 4/13/13 (2 of 2) - YouTube

Whoa! The car hooked up and I wasn't ready for it. 2.093 60' which I never thought I would do with 20s. This time I did a small burnout to clean the tires and made sure I was in the groove.

Run #3

No video

A bit of wheelspin off the line as I was trying to see if I can launch better. Ended up with a 2.120 60' and 13.605@101.04

As soon as the meth parts come in, on they go with a smaller pulley and maybe some better tires (looking for a set of 17s to clear the brakes and some semi slicks) in the back!

Mike, your STR with stock !8" wheels, Mina intake, modded intake tube, 3 lb pulley, and hi-flow cats would have caused your STR (460 chp @ 480 lb/ft trq..) to mount the Audi into submission. Go back a step or two.

BF, I read you sig, screw everything else but a twin screw I switched out my Eaton to a KB and only 2psi more boost than the Eaton and a full point lower on compression. Its a night and day differance in performance. heres a 0-60 vid of my 05 V6 Frontier

Michael, I love your car and the wheels. My favorit Jaguar color and car. the above comments apply to you too

lol thanks guys. His audi was not running right either as those big beasts are mid to high 12s stock.

I'd love to go twin screw, I am waiting for Avos to finish the kit for us STRs

Just one word from me. Quaife.

You'll see your 60' time drop and no more mid-track lack of traction.

Trying to put that much power through an open diff is never going to be satisfying...

I have to admit the STR is one of the weirdest open diffs I've come across. Sometimes it will just hook up and go almost like they are locked together. I've done burnouts with both wheels spinning too.

Your wheels look good. I have the same color car just a 2005.

But I could never live with 20" rims around here. The 18's are bad enough.

Very nice dude... I'm really curious how your mph will pick up with the 3lb pulley and the meth kit... keep us posted!

Also, how loud do you find your exhaust setup to be? Am I readin that right, no cats? Stock resonators and mufflers though, right? Curious how that sounds...

Ya they are a pain sometimes. I am glad that Kentucky's roads are kept up pretty well

No cat, only stock resonator (middle section) no muffler. Honestly, people say it sounds good on the outside, but I do get a lot of drone on the inside that I need to address. To me the best sounding was when I just removed the rear mufflers. It wasn't too loud at all and no drone.

Nice job Michael, thanks for posting vids and your results. Seems our cars have trouble breaking low 13's after a few mods because of traction. Your car sounds great and looks better, lots to be proud of

Actually these cars produce decent 60ft times especially for an open diff car. On street tires I'm dead even off the line or faster than any rwd car I've raced. All have LSD's new m3, ss camaro, 392 challenger. I think better intercooling and a transmission that shifts more aggressive would make these cars alot faster.

i assume the good 60ft times/launches against those cars are with the dsc off....if so im just getting at your actually a pretty good driver aswell. takes practice & consistency not to push it past the point in 1st gear where theres too much tire spin and the car just shifts to 2nd and now everythings just blahhhh. i tend to get a little excited sometimes!

I'm still quite shocked that there isn't a proper tune for this car. I've read the threads and speculations of a tune with dyno results, but nothing confirmed. The gear shifts I've seen in these cars can really be improved with a tune and with a pulley swap should net a bigger HP gain than whats being seen now. Currently still in the market for one myself, but my SRT-8 is tuned and it's night and day to the point, I wouldn't even want the car anymore if I had to drive it stock and I think the same could be said if the STR had a good tune as well. Haven't ran into any STR's to compare race stories as I have only seen 2 on the road EVER!!!, but I'm eager to find one, get some mods done and compare it to my current car.

I've cut a 1.9 60' with the car before. You have to roll into the throttle. Too much too soon and you spin

She looks downright nastily Wicked. Each year, I've had to re-do my factory 18's because of the roads. I'd never get away with 20's. But awesome job!
