Default What have you done (or bought) for your S type today?

Hey i really like what they are doing in the XJS section and I did not see a thread here so I am going to start it . Post what you did or bought for your S type today. pictures get a +1

I will start - last week my voice control system started randomly coming on, trying to dial the phone and other random functions, Nonstop. The first time it did this it scared the crap out of me as I didn't realize it had a a voice module. Its 3:00 am and i am in the back seat trying to dry the car out and all of the sudden this voice comes on and tells me (at max volume) its trying to dial home. I straight up hit the roof with my head . Anyway it turns out it was a faulty switch in the steering wheel. I recieved one from Ebay today andI am putting it in now

My recent buys for the 01 V6 petrol:
  • Inside glow lights with lots of colour options
  • Bluetooth gizmo for phone music and calls
  • complete service and gear/bearing replacement of differential (to get rid of whine), now I can hear the engine, and that sound is so nice

Recent Buys for my 2006 S Type R S/C V8 include
  • Brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's as the tread on the rear was shot with the best being 2/32's when I bought it. That ran me just slightly over $1,500 American.
  • Bluetooth FM Transmitter from my XJ8 as it was totaled.
  • New Fuel filter fitted which resulted in some slightly getting on me as it's quite high pressure
  • New Alignment fitted as well
  • Oil Change With K&N Filter and AMSOIL 5W30
Have planned for next week Transmission fluid service as I just went over 61,000 miles in my STR, as well as a brake fluid change and Diff Fluid swap as well. Plan on buying a new serpentine belt for it as well as when I bought the car it was squeaking slightly to my annoyance. Almost forgot to mention new spark plugs too. Plan on going with NGK Rutheniums but just need to double check.

The K&N will not help (other than noise, perhaps) and is risky.

Guess I should have put that the K&N Filter was for the Oil lol but I haven't had trouble with the intake filters they have. Had them fitted to other cars before and with proper location as well as possible cone for it, can help tremendously with power. Most people tend to run into trouble with them as they basically give them in a bath in oil and then that coat's the mass airflow sensor and then it runs like crap. Having said all that I also used their Fuel Filter which is part number #PF-2000 at least for the S Type R as well as the Oil Filter Part number #HP-1014 as they've been good in my other cars, and they're having a bit of a sale on them too. Stocked up with several as it's cheaper than in store.

It won't help with power. You need a tune or TS or some such.

If anything, it's a hotter intake than the car has.

Well of course. If one is getting an intake then you'd need a tune for it to reap any benefits. There's some heat shields I've seen that are quite effective that would help with what you're talking about. I do know exactly the type of thing your pointing to though. Like the kids with the honda civics that just slap something on there and it ends up becoming a hot air intake as opposed to a cold air intake, therein defeating the purpose, and not benefiting the car at all if not making it run worse.

Things I Bought / Installed this week
  • Treated the rust in the Boot with phosphoric acid, coated it with Black Flexseal for a rubberized look
  • Installed a new / used Battery Box to hold my monster 900 cca battery (these cats really like their juice)
  • Repaired the broken boot lid wiring harness and guess what? My boot lights shut on and off, and my button works now. 8 out of 10 wires were broken
  • 4 Brand new tires 225/35 ZR 20 Grand Sport A/S (not the most expensive but they are surprisingly quiet and supposedly good for 50k) It really feels solid with the 20 inch rims
  • 4 way alignment
  • Repaired all the broken headlight adjusters and polished the lenses (last week)
I am not sure if I should say every problem that my Jag has had I have found a solution for in these Forums or of I should say
Every solution in these forums my Jag has had the problem :-) Either way I am grateful for the resource. i really could go down the typlical list for this year and model aned check off every item
