Default What's a Yaw Rate and Body Acceleration Module???

Just trawling the net and saw one of these modules. What on earth does it do and does my S Type have one? Is it an STR part maybe?

I gather it measures body roll and forward motion, but why?

I'm just curious and also making a mental note of an additional electronic gizmo to worry about.

These are the sensors for DSC. You have DSC and no one has ever reported fault of these sensors.

It provides input to the Dynamic Stability Control System.
The real title is Yaw Rate and Lateral Acceleration Sensor Cluster----so it is measuring movement about the vertical and lateral axes of the car.

Used for other things, too, such as avoiding gear changes when the accelerometers (which is basically what they are) show a change would be unwise (wheels might come unstuck).

Probably used to decide what to do with CATS, too.

Yes, as JagV8 mentioned - these sensors are inputs for the CATS as well... there are 2 sensors in the engine bay and one sensor behind the GEM in the trunk.
