There's too many threads about troubles and tribulations on here lately, how about something lighter? What's your favorite feature or gismo on your S Type? My favorite and a true lifesaver is the beepers for backing up, that let you know before you hit something. What good is a camera without beepers, unless you like watching the car hit things on TV?

the drivers seat. Everything about it. I have bad spine troubles and i can sit in it for a long time. Best seat ever in a vehicle i have owned
The rain sensing wipers are a cool feature. Catmobile mentioned the rear backup beepers and that brought back a funny memory. When I was picking up my 2005 STR from out of state I remember going through a drive through to get a drink before heading home. The front sensor beeper ( which I had never had before on any car) kept going off, I thought I was having some kind of mechanical problem! I kept looking at the dash for trouble lights. That front sensor is probably the reason the front fascia is still in very good condition.
The amber cockpit lamp that radiates from the moonroof console at night.
thanks rick you just reminded me of something else so i guess i have 2 favorites.....the red puddle lamp on the bottom of the door......it just looks nice from about 30 feet on in when the door is open
I like the whole car, overall. The left and right temp controls in front are cool. The seats are a bit too firm for me, but I am comparing them to my XJ. I like the internal glow lights I added. The Jag sunroof is the best, in my opinion.
I agree with the seat being the most comfortable for my back. Definitely the best seat ever! But my other fave is the cruise control. I never owned a car with that before.
The V6 engine is nice, not quite as special as an Alfa V6 though. Nor is it as well-engineered.
Sadly, I haven’t yet sampled the delights of the V8 version, but no doubt I would love it. Although how they managed to shoehorn a supercharged V8 into that tiny engine bay I will never know! I’m just glad I don’t have to work on one.

Hi
For me has to be the 4.2 V8 sc engine, sounds so sweet with a performance exhaust, great power, torque and yes so smooth
2nd has to be Jagdroid updated touch screen to android, makes the classic dash looks, great with up to date android full features, nice bit of kit
cheers
Joe
Well, I have two S-Types (Identical & in that wonderful metallic racing green) in my collection - thus there has to be something about that cat...
It's the overall design and memories of the golden past, due to Jaguar Designers Geoff Lawson and Ian Callum picking up on the wonderful shape of the Jaguar S-Type 1963-1968. I did cross paths with Geoff Lawson back then in 1998 (sadly memory faded after all that time), when I was working as part of the X400 design team in Coventry. I was designing a number of switches, but mainly the electrical part of the light-switch and I strongly influenced Geoff Lawson regarding the optical design of that light-switch of the X400. But while being there I also saw in the design-meeting-room that wonderful full sized clay (red-brown clay) model of the S-Type. I think I already fell in love with the new S-Type back then (long before anybody else would have seen a picture of it).
Obviously, part of the charm are the double-headlights. It's not a Jag without double headlights. I also bought the double-headlight version for my XJS, as it came with those fish-tank head lights, which really do not do the trick - and I have to replace them. And that beauty-feature of the double headlights just needs to be emphasized, which is why both of my S-Types have front (and rear and side) chrome bezels. It's worth the expense. It also reminds me a little bit of the "Schlafaugen" ("sleepy eyes") of the old VW Beetle.
And I love on the S-Type something, which is utterly invisible - you just have to know about it to appreciate it: After the second facelift in 2004, the S-Type got an aluminum bonnet (hood). My 2004 and 2005 are both past second facelift.
And the acceleration is a dream (my V6 3.0L versions do the trick). Sadly I will never be able to enjoy the speed, as the "fun police" in Australia made sure there is no fun: Except for the NT, all of Australia has a max. speed limit of 110km/h (back then in Germany I did drive speeds of up to 245km/h: VW Golf GTI, Ford Puma, VW Corrado, thus definitely double-Australian speed).
Yes, there reverse parking sensors work pretty well on the S-Type. Not sure why, but the same sensors on my X-Type were driving me nuts: There were just beeping in reverse - regardless if or if not something is behind the car. But the problem resolved itself: Without my input it stopped now beeping altogether... - better.
And the S-Type - like nearly any Jag - delivers the feeling of being at home on the road: Surrounded by wood and leather.

The drivetrain for the car, especially with the 4.2 V8 is great, but is it a gizmo? The ultimate gizmo on the car perhaps.
My second favorite gizmo is when the car has a problem, it tells you what it is. It has solved every problem I've had with the car, except coolant leaks.
Actually a while ago I got a Ford coolant cap for a modern Thunderbird with 16PSI, instead of the Jaguar cap with more than 20psi and the car works fine and no more leaks with less pressure.
By the way, what the hell Is Jaguar Voice, does the car talk to you?
Mine does not have auto dipping mirrors to aid reversing.
'Er indoors never drives it so I set the seat memory 2nd position to have the mirrors dipping to see the rear quarters and wheels.
Have to actually stop to change it but no biggy and is quite neat.
it is the engine designation for that model....not for sure but i think a 4.0 liter...even though ford owned jaguar it was a truly engineered jaguar engine from materials to design i believe
