What data do you want? Most is on stickers by door hinges etc. Some sort of encoded data is in the boot (trunk) but can be hard to find, doesn't seem in a standard location.

Sometimes my curiosity gets the better of me.
My steering column was making a clicking sound at one end of movement.
I thought that it might need recalibration, like the windows.
So I go to recalibration in IDS, and I select steering recalibration.
Well, I got into the procedure, and decided to back out, but I could not.
You know that's what got me scr@#wed with the ECM program as well.
Anyway, it stated that I needed the code off of the build sticker and from the steering column.
I really wanted to back out at this point, but could not.
So I pressed on hoping it would say, "hey, you didn't provide a code!" and just quit without doing anything.
Well, guess what, not providing a code is the same as providing a code.
I got a message that the steering unit had been programmed and viola, I can't adjust the steering up or down, or in or out.
So, I am thinking to get the information off the build sticker and the steering column to fix this mess I got myself into again.
But, I can't find the build sticker.
I have looked further up under the carpet (top part of picture) and I have tried to look behind the side wheel well covers, but will need to pull them out to be sure.
I found a sticker at the A pillar, but that was just the vin and trim and pain codes.
I can look some more, but would just like an idea of where to look.

I am very tempted to load the previous VID and attempt to write it back, but I am a little concerned about what else I might screw up.

Thanks

Sounds like you want the VCAT label with all the module serial numbers?

This example is the VCAT lable from my last XJ8. I've not come across one in plain view on any Jaguar model I've had. They are always hidden behind the trim in the luggage compartment. XJ8 and XK8 have them behind the RH side trim. Jaguar tend to be consistent in things like this so good chance your S-Type VCAT will be in the same place.

Never seen that on my car but kinda interested to!

I've read there's a code on the steering column, not sure what you have to take off to see it. Think one of the TSBs gives details.

Thanks guys.
Some day I will learn not to be so curious.
Unlike my car, I don't have nine lives.
Will let you know, how it goes.

Well, I ripped the tire, the battery, and the battery tray out of the trunk, no VCATS label.
I opened the side panels and checked in there, no VCATS label.
I found this TSB 307-7 on the internet, and on page 3, the VCATS label is in plain sight next to the spare tire.
http://www.europeantransmissions.com...ag/S307-07.pdf

I have access to alldatadiy.com, but they do not have TSB S413-2 V2 only V1.

JagV8, can you point me to TSB S413-2 V2 or can you forward it to me?
I'll PM you my email address.
Thank you.

Thank you very much JagV8. I guess google works differently, depending on how you make your search string.
I used: TSB S413-02 v2
and Jaguar S413 and all I got of value was the alldatadiy website, for which I have a subscription.
For sh@ts and grins, I just tried this again, with JagV8's search string, and what do you know, it came up. But here is the clincher, all this time, unbeknownst to be, Its been BING, not Google. They freaking hijacked my search engine! Why those!
So I learned something here:
1. Make sure its google, not bing.
2. Be less specific in search strings.
3. Bookmark JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Guess I got a little project for the weekend. Now to find that doggamned VCATS label.

I think that's member Gus's site. He's done hand-to-hand combat with various Jags

The google filetype thing is really useful...

To get a greater audience, and to avoid any future scatological references (I still can't get those images out of my head, thanks to JoycesJag), I continued the thread here:
