I have a chance to get a Totalled S-type R, its an 03 for not a lot of money. The engine is toast but the trans, exhaust, and all of the rear end is un damaged.

I already pulled some of the the interior, seats, door panels and switches. Also pulled the wing and am planning to fit it to my S-type, I like it for the look. My interior is flawless, but interior is never cheap to replace and the colors match.

But the real question is, would any of the mechanical parts be interchangable to my 02 S-type 4.0 . Mainly I am concerned with the transmission. I would like to have a spare in case the one I have now goes out. He has another buyer but he is giving me first crack at it since we went to boot camp together some number of years ago.

Im not really looking to get any performance boost,I have a better option when i feel like risking my liscence and some jail time, but I like to have part cars, its saved me money in the past and I have a storage to keep it in. In the last month and a half Ive already racked up 4900.00 in repairs. Most of that being parts, prob about 80% of it.

 

Completely different gearbox (NOT EVEN CLOSE) You have a Ford 5R55N and the 03 has a ZF6HP26. The electronics are very different because the 02 used PTEC for the drivetrain and the FORD SCP network, the 03 used CAN buss because of the transmission. Even the rear is different with the addition of the EPB (electronic park brake). You might find some parts interchange but the cars are different.

Thanks for the info. Im still learning about these cars, Ive only had mine for a few months.

 

If you do buy it let me know how much you want for the heads and the rear end.

Hey thanks guys. I did not buy the rest of the car becuase, it did not serve the purpose I needed and I wanted to have more cash on hand for spring break next week.

As far as the heads, those were bent and cracked, I checked for you. The rest he sold to a coworker. But he let me pick apart the interior for 200.00 so it wasnt a total loss on my end.
