Hi! My name is Naomi and I have a Jaguar problem. I know you will all understand.
About 12 years ago, my husband and I purchased a 1973 short wheelbase XJ6 as a project car. This has always been my favourite model apart from the XJC. The S2 had been fitted with a Chev V8, so we removed & sold the engine and started taking the car apart for restoration... it's still 90% complete and that's where the project stalled.
Jump to today, when I agreed to purchase a 1982 (1983 Australian delivered) XJ-S HE. Tudor White with beige interior (sorry I don't know the official trim colour name yet). We will bring it home later this week. It's unrestored, low mileage (about 72,000km) and looked so much better than I expected. It's been indoors pretty much its whole life. It has hardly been driven for the last 11 years. The paint is not even chalky and the interior looks fantastic. And it was cheap - a no-brainer. It has an aftermarket spoiler on the boot lid - the purists probably wouldn't like it, but I think it looks OK.
The XJ-S has a slipping trans so we will get this sorted out soon; as well as a brake overhaul, new tyres, and general check over. We're not planning to restore it, but keep it in its original state for as long as possible and enjoy it as a weekend cruiser.
Thanks for reading! I have already found so much useful information on these forums. I thought I had better join to say hello.

Welcome.
These XJ-S's are a rare in any form, and an indoors stored example is even rarer.
The trans is possibly lo fluid, or the pick up o/ring has dried out and split, common enough with them.

Welcome to the forum Naomi,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the Australia - South Region forum by following this link Australia - South / NT - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
