Default Rear side windows move in coupe XK

Rear side windows do move perhaps a centimeter, is that ok or not?
I have seen posts about this problem, but they all say "you do not get that part form Jaguar". So how have you fixed it?

A plastic "shield" of rear register licence plate's lamp is not correctly seated, must be broken or too big a lamp there. Can these be ordered from somewhere?

Thankful for any information!

Pull the door rubber seal away from the trim below the rear quarter window and check to see if the bracket for the window is broken, if it is the window can slide right out! It's only held in by that one bracket and a locating plastic dowel. Only way of replacing is new from Jaguar but it's only part of a new window or if lucky off eBay or scrapyard.

With just a little ingenuity and a bit of competence, nearly anything can be repaired or fabricated.

I remember there is something which is called "chemical metal" here...some sort of glue for metal. That might work...?

If you push the window back toward the end of the car it should fit very snugly in the rubber seals and I would be surprised if it moved. I never bothered to bolt mine back in after I had pulled them out, they were in very tight. If they are moving I'd have thought it was a rubber trim issue more than anything. I wouldnt be using a glue, but maybe a bit of silicone would do the job.

Saw thread title and was hoping someone figured out how to make them go down.

That would look awesome with ALL the windows down.

*sigh*

I have a similar problem. Car is at a shop for some cosmetic work including painting the drip rails gloss black. This required removing the quarter glass. However the issue I encountered was with the cast alloy bracket that connects between the L bracket on the window and the body of the car on the RH side, left side was fine. Glass was not loose however I tried to locate the part in EPC as well as the dealer with no success. A call is in to Jaguar corporate hopefully for an answer. Anyone else with this problem have a solution?

The pic below is of the good one.

Four years old. You are lucky though that Ian is still active. He probably won't SEE this though as he has an XF, so maybe PM him.

This video shows how to remove the rear window. Is the one bolt that holds your window in missing?
