coil D
Mot diagnostic tools use generic definitions and often don't match up with Jaguar. The tool should have given you a P code such as P0301, P0302 etc. If you post the actual code then we can tell you what coil might be causing a problem. I really don't know what a D coil is, at least not on a Jaguar.
P0354 indicates a misfire on cylinder 4. The possibilities are a bad coil, bad wiring or a bad Engine Control Module. For troubleshooting remove the #4 coil and swap it with a different coil. Then clear the codes and run the engine and see if the fault moves to the new location of the coil. If it does then simply replace the coil.
You don't list the MY of the vehicle so assuming it is an XK8 I have attached the 2 different numbering sequences that were used for the XK8.

I think what you have checked is correct for coil D, cylinder 4. I am sure that since the code reads P0354 that you are looking at the correct one. I think the reason for the updated cylinder numbering is to mirror what OBD testing identifies.
Well today I changed the spark plugs and fitted new coil, old plugs looked shot at,car performance was great for around 15miles then restricted performance came up again now I am stumped, any idea what to try next anyone
this is correct. Aka 1,3,5,7 on the left and 2,4,6,8 on the right
As usual, here is one other owner looking for help (if discard or fix the car) but people just don't care. As soon as their issue is solved, they forgot everyone who spend time to help them. /rantend
The cylinder numbering post cracks me up. Only on a Jaguar diagram would the cylinder be labeled "2" on the inside "6" on the outside, but no that's number "4" for sure. ;^) (It might be "coil D" too !)

Yeah, I agree not reporting back or giving an update is just bad manners.
Jimmy, I'm going to give Jaguar a break on the cylinder confusion. It is really frustrating trying to figure out cylinder numbering or firing orders among many different manufacturers. On many common vehicles two different sources of tech info will give you two different answers or illustrations. I don't understand why these things are hard? lol
