I just had to replace my Fan Control Module and it requires removing the Glove Box. I have seen other threads where removing the Glove Box has been a problem. You will need a #2 Phillips head screw driver (stubby), a T30 TORX driver, and an 8mm scoket or wrench.
Here are the Shop Manual instructions:
NOTE: THE INSTRUCTIONS ASSUME THAT YOU WANT TO REMOVE THE GLOVE BOX FROM THE CAR. THE GLOVE BOX WILL SIT ON THE FLOOR WITHOUT UNPLUGGING ANYTHING!
NOTE: THERE IS A SMALL SCREW BY THE BOLTS UNDER THE GLOVE BOX. YOU WILL SEE IT IN THE PICTURES. IT IS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE SIDE. IT WILL DRIVE YOU NUTS IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT IS THERE!
NOTE: THE SCRIVETS HAVE A SMALLER CENTER BUTTON. PULL IT OUTWARD AND THE SCRIVET WILL THEN PULL OUT.

Interesting thread, just found this. My '04 XJ8 latches, and opens nicely, but it just doesn't close all the way. There's a gap between dash and door. On rough bumpy rides the light will flicker on and off—I thought I could maybe bend it to close, but not a real option. Any ideas? Thanks

You may just need to either adjust the striker. Photos of what worked for me are at this link:
Reinstalling those glove boxes is a real chore as the box itself has a tight and awkward fit, and some of the retainers tend to dislodge during the removal and reassembly. In my case, it took me two attempts to finally secure the glove box back in place last Spring. Then, the blower module recently failed again, and I had to remove the glove box a second time. During that process, one of the retainers to the top front of the glove box dropped down to the floor, and I had to simply slide it back in place. However, as I was completing the reassembly, the two torx screws in the top back of the glove box simply could not find their mark. Now, I'll probably have to remove the glove box again a second time, and ascertain that the top rear retainers are in place.

while not yet falling apart, the black vinyl cover on my glove box door is starting to pull away from the frame, which this forum says is common issue.
I was going to try and glue it, but unsure of what to use. Considered a good quality epoxy, but am open to suggestions if anyone has done this before?
+1 on Contact adhesive. Follow the instructions on the container, but typically the strongest bond comes from applying a thin layer to both surfaces, allowing to dry until tacky, then carefully pressing them together. If you need clamps to hold it together, apply just enough force to keep the pieces in proper contact but not so much force as to flatten or otherwise damage the "leather" texture in the black vinyl cover.
Mine (x358) doesn't have the shelf mentioned in the guide. That is likely also why the secondary lamp (which normally would light the shelf) is not present.
I believe it was supposed to be where the pimple is...? (1.)
Also when I was done with all the bolts and screws listed in the guide the assembly still wouldn't come out, it felt like there must be one more screw hidden somewhere around the lamp. I was almost getting emotional, until I applied some force in the direction hinted above (2.), i.e. where the lamp sits.
In other threads I noticed guys expressing their frustration over one particular connector, I believe it is this one:

If you expect to crawl under the dashboard (I had to) you'll probably also rest on the door sill, in which case you may end up tearing the precious rubber inner door seal. I am like 50/50 sure I added one more tear to that poor thing.
I should not be surprised anymore, but once again I found several cracked and broken pieces on the glove compartment assembly, a pretty clear sign of someone before me pulling that thing out without knowing what they were doing AND not giving that much of a ****.

Yep that connector to the 12volt cgarette lighter plug is quite the bitch. Cut of the three cables inside their protection hose just to get thst middle tray out.
I will solder an aditionnal 10 cm length for the 3 cables just to be not bothered by the tray installation nor future removal
