Default Air injection delete V12 5.3

What's the preferred method these days for plugging off the air injection pipe holes?

Cheers and thanks

Doug, I have never done it, but I would tap and plug them. Plenty of grease on the tap and the swarf should not be a problem. The threads do not need to be that deep, either, and some hi temp Loctite. I would be forever worrying if I had anything there not actually mechanically fixed.

Sealed blind rivets from below into manifold flanges. If you use the correct size the head fits in the o ring recess.

Done heaps.

If the inlet manifolds are off, tap the heads, fit a grubscrew, done. Only tap down a few turns, just enough to bury the grub screw.

If the manifolds are still on, whatever fits in that hole, and rivets as described have been good, and the original clamp plates refitted to hold them in place, and to save shortening those 12 studs.

I used ball bearings that were a bit oversized for the holes, then tightened down the hold-down tabs back over the top of them. Worked fine.

I've put an $8000 cap on this project so I won't be buying new 'anything' unless necessary.

I followed the "book" suggestion, pounded in some lead-coated nails as Palm suggested, three years later and no problems.
