Default Help....trunk won't open - RESOLVED

[2006 X-Type - added by GGG]

My doors used to make a loud locking noise when I drove over 5 mph. Now I do not hear this noise and now my trunk/luggage compartment will not unlock. This happened at the same time. Can anyone help me out with this problem? Is it something I might have done? HELP!

Welcome to the forum kajunkooker,

I've moved your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to X-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Welcome to the forum!

Since the auto-lock mechanism quit working, and the trunk lock is inoperative, I would suspect simply a blown fuse.

That said, there might be a reason the fuse blew, but one step at a time: check and/or replace the fuse!

"In Left Hand drive cars, the internal fuse box is tucked away on the drivers side roughly where your left knee will be when you drive, it's a little difficult to find, you will need a torch."

The above statement was written by an Englishman I believe. Don't use an honest-to-god "torch" as he instructs, but rather a plain 'ol flashlight!

You'll want to check and/or replace fuse "F24", a blue 15 amp fuse.

I sure hope the $1 dollar fix does ya!

If you need to reset auto locking after fixing the fuse

To turn the feature off or on:

1) Turn on the ignition to position II so all the dash lights come on but don't start the engine.
2) Using the button on the door handle, lock and unlock the door 3 times (don't open the door).
3) Turn off the ignition.
4) Turn on the ignition to position I.
5) Using the button on the door handle, lock and unlock the door 3 times (don't open the door).
6) Turn off the ignition.
7) Turn on the ignition to position II but don't start the engine - a beep will sound.
8 ) Lock and unlock the door once as before - a confirmation beep will sound.
