Default 2002 2.5L auto codes help

My jaguar lost power and I'm in need of some of everyone's expert guidance please.
I have pulled the codes and they are as follows.

P0300
P0301
P1313
P1616

I already bought a coil pack thinking that maybe a coil went down but before I tear into it and start guessing and "throwing money" at a problem I would really like some input. The car starts up, and if I erased the codes, befor they come back it revs fine then it will miss. Any ideas woul be great. Thanks in advance!

Hey Cory,
Ok here is you codes...Code P0300 refers to
Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly. A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. So the p0301 is the 1st coil under your intake passenger side. Those would be your 1,3,5 against your firewall. Check to see if there is oil down inside the sparkplug well. If there is you have a leaking valve cover gasket. If not you just have a bad coil pack. As long as you have the intake off, I would change out the plugs if you have not done so already. The p 1313 Is a faulty cat code. This might go away after you fix the coil. Try the coil first before anything else and let us know.

Good Luck,
The Dr!

Ok, sounds like a plan. And that would be 1, 3, 5, looking at the engine, correct? 1 being the coil on the passenger side requiring change right? Just hate to pull it all part and change the wrong one, ha.

Yes. #1 is under the intake on the passenger side closest to the strut tower. On the back of the intake There is 2 bolts in the back holding the wire loom and one 3 inches down underneath the 2 bolt. then there is one under the throtlebody on a bracket. And I believe there is 6 or 7 bolts holding down the intake. Be very careful when taking it off and putting it back on. There are brass nuts that are under the intake bolts that if u tighten to much they will strip out.

Good luck,
The Dr!

Thanks Dr. One last question before I tackle this. I've got the coin, spark plugs now, do I really need new gaskets? I've seen that many say no, just use vasalene one the old ones. Reason I ask is I'd like to get started and get the jag back on the road, if I don't have to order these I won't.

If there is no oil in with the plugs then spark plugs are cheap. 5 or 6 bucks each is only 40 bucks. You will save on that alone with gas mileage. If there is oil down in the well then you have to think about doing it sooner rather then later because with our cars they are like a woman. Treat them well and they will be with you for ever, mis treat them and they will break you in more ways then one. LOL
If you have any questions about anything give me a call. I will pm you my number.

Good Luck,
The Dr!

I live in the country, Elimsport to be exact. It's only about 10 minutes from Williamsport where they hold the little league World Series, which happens to just had its parade for this years series.

Changed the spark plugs and bank 1 coil. When I pulled that coil it was taped up with electrical tape.smh. Anyways, put it all back together and low be behold, no error codes or engine light and she runs great again! Thanks for the help Doc!
