My wife's 2002 X-type is experiencing very poor AM radio reception. FM reception is acceptable. What is the most common problem with this antenna system? I understand that this vehicle has an antenna module mounted in the left C pillar area?
Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

AM/FM CD changer in the trunk

 

At least the FM antenna is actually mounted in the rear window, and because of this interesting design, to my knowledge, all un-modified X-Types suffer from poor FM reception whenever the rear window heater is active.
