Default 2003 X-Type 2.5L Petrol 4WD

Any suggestions regarding a low decibel "woop woop " noise from the front RHS of my car. It was thought to be a front wheel bearing , but replacement has not fixed the problem. - Ply separation on the tyre could also be the cause, but the tyre is only about two months old. Any advice much appreciated Cheers

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Gordy, I would first start with rotating the tires front to rear and rear to front to see if the noise moves. This will remove any question of whether it is a tire or not. The next check that I would try is get on a side street with no one behind you and get up to side street speed and then gently apply the brakes and the gas (maintain speed, but drag the brakes too). Does the noise change? If yes, then you may have a warped rotor and what you are hearing is the rotor touching the pad as the wheel spins. But, if this is the case, I would also suspect that you would have a decent wobble in the steering wheel when applying the brakes. After that, you are looking at a CV shaft as the most likely cause of the noise.

On a side note, when you are rotating the tires, look at the treat and see if you have something stuck in the tread (small stone, piece of plastic, etc). That could also cause a noise like you are hearing.

One last thing, you mention a "woop woop" sound, I am assuming that it is speed dependent, not engine speed dependent. This changes things dramatically.
