Lightbulb 6 Months, it's time to upgrade

After about 6 months of owning my first ever Jaguar and taking it through it's paces I've found both it's Pro's and it's cons and I'd like to rectify those cons. However these are some things I'm going to assume some people here have already done and would like some inspiration and a general idea if it's possible to be done and what I'll need.

Sounds like I'm asking a lot and in reality I am, but with this forum you guys/gals have been quite helpful.

I have a completely stock Jaguar X-type 2005 Base 3.0 V6 Vehicle, and when I say Stock, I don't even have heated seats. However I got the car for $1500 with 75,000 miles and although at first it didn't look pretty, after some hard work and some $2500 in the car it looks pretty good in my opinion.

Now onto what I want to change about the car.
  • Updated headunit that looks clean and seems to actually look like it's from the factory
  • Tint
  • Get the Driver side mirror fixed (currently jammed or locked into place)
  • retro-fitting heated seats

*Headunit that definitely has bluetooth
*would also be nice if it had a Backup camera

More to be added on as time goes by

Thanks, Axel

for the stereo I fitted the one in this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ll-how-136910/

The heated seats should already have the wiring there, you just need seats from the same year and the panel with the heated seats option, you will also need the weigh sensor for the passenger seat as this is set to your car and will save you problems later down the line when you fit them.

My first X was UK spec basic 2.5 No leather just cloth setas , no folding rear seats or armrest. Standard analogue A/c. No electric rear windows . Basic Radio/cassette player. No , in dash, info centre. Basic 16" alloys ( Amazing ride & great road holding ) but lack of sound proofing . However from the outside , it looked top of the range , so the rest never really bothered me . Welcome & enjoy the forums. I also bought it unseen & undriven from an online auction . 2 yrs ago & it was a 2002 . £1700.00 . I've since up graded to a newer , different model X

she looks pretty good from outside.

If I had your car, I would consider integrating an iPad Mini instead of the head unit, or at least an iPhone 6 Plus if the ipad doesn't fit down there.

Thanks for the compliments guys,

Scricy I was semi-tempted at doing the Ipad Mini install however, the sleekness factor isn't there which I quite like keeping things clean.

Paul, thanks for the links but i'm looking for a better headunit then that one. Quality wise(resolution) seems low on that one and I also want to retain steering wheel compatibility. Unfortunately my 05 Jag and your 04 Jag have difference in the wiring which means i'll need different gear but I appreciate it none the less

Making it look factory was too much work for me, plus the added features of aftermarket couldn't be beat by price

I have retained the SWC on my Jag, you get the correct adapter for your car and stereo brand, then simply plug them in, The wiring on your 05 and my 04 will not be that different, as long as you have the correct aerial adapter and the ISO lead with SWC's you are good too go.

The screen resolution on the philips is 800x480 and seems perfect given it is only a 6.2 inch screen. Most other brands are the same resolution which is considered High res.
