Anti-freeze leak
My 2007 x type has developed a coolant leak. It does not leak when parked, only when the engine is running. I'm going to check into it further, I'm just wondering if there's any particular places I should check. Does the fact that it only leaks while running mean anything?
Probably the two most common are the top nipple of the coolant tank (it has a tendency to eventually crack) and the water pump. The water pump usually will need to be replaced by 100K miles. I would start there. Neither one is that difficult to fix nor that expensive. I would start there. And if you do end up replacing the coolant tank make sure the clamp in pointing down on the nipple. If it is pointing up it has been known to hit on the hood when it gets closed and could cause it to happen again.
Fisherman, look on top of the tranny to see of you can see coolant puddling there. If not, then odds are it is the coolant tank. Just to confirm, I would start up the car and let it idle to see if you can see where it is leaking from.
Thanks for the advice. My coolant tank does not have any cracks in it anywhere. I have attached a picture below. There is coolant dripping down a part. I'm not sure what the part is called. Im not sure if that's leaking, or if the water pump is leaking and dripping onto this part. Any idea?
Looks like you need a new thermostat housing assy.
At the very least you should replace the gasket/seal between the plastic housing and the aluminum head flange. If the plastic is deteriorated, then the entire assy would be a good idea.

Thanks Bob. I couldn't tell if the leak was coming from that gasket or if it was coming from the water pump up above and just running off of that gasket. I'll look into that further.
Thanks

Fisherman, look at the bulge in the line with the three bolts. This is your thermostat. There is an oring on that joint which could be your issue. If you look above that joint, you will see 2 more nuts holding the thermostat to the engine block. Do you see coolant there? If so, then your problem is the oring on that joint.
It is possible that on the one side of the time piece there, you have a 3rd or in that is also known to leak. This is where if you are replacing the owing to the block, it will be in your best interest to replace that one at the same time.
