What I have: 2006 x type vdp Nav touch system.
What I want: Separate climate control in the top and aftermarket radio on the bottom.
Why? Pain in the (_!_) swapping out nav and though I did search and found the link to modify the existing nav system with a bunch of parts...it's not happening. Would like updated radio w/android auto and Bluetooth for hands free calling, maybe even back up camera. Do not want a cigarette lighter plug in transmitter or wires hanging.
Wondering: From what I can gather the plug in harness is the same for both versions of as far as the radio goes. The climate control is not and I'm sure some of that has to do with the navigation which in my guess wouldn't be needed. Has anyone done a swap from nav to the other system or is there a wiring harness out there that plugs in the one type of climate control to the other version? I could, if possible, find the wiring diagram, cut wires and attach a different harness but prefer not going this route.

Tried doing a search on this and all I found was people upgrading to the Nav system. I kind of want to go the other direction.

 

Going the other direction is just as involved and expensive as standard to NAV.

Do a search for member Dennis Black's threads and posts on his multiple conversions.

 

Not tried this but it seems the new Climate Control Panel would replace the Remote Climate Control Module, which would mean the Can Bus is fine and the car will still start and climate control will work. As long as you don't have Premium sound with the amp in the boot and you don't want other modules like Voice, OEM Bluetooth or anything that relies on the O2B network then the replacement unit will replace everything else.
