Default How to program Climate Control Module

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me how to get my climate control to function. I recently install a retrofit wire harness to install the Sat/Nav system in my car. Everything is connected and everything is working except my climate control. I read that the vehicle had to be reprogramed to accept the new setup. How do I do this?
Thanks.. I have a 2004 XJR

Could you provide more details about the "retrofit" harness and sat/nav?

Did you replace your existing sat/nav? Why did you have to install a "retrofit" harness?

I'd be glad to provide more details. My car was originally equipped with the non- Sat/Nav center console. I purchased and installed the Sat/Nav console the navigation unit for the trunk, along with a retrofit wire harness from a member of another forum. Everything works as stated before, except the climate controls. The cars AC unit comes on automatically and maintains a low level of cooling, but I cannot adjust it. When I select the climate button on the center console, it gives a communication error.

So now with the change, your climate controls are on a touch screen rather than buttons? Did you change the head unit to telematics?

What codes are you getting?

From what I've read, when swapping out a CCM, which it doesn't sound like you did, you need WDS to reprogram it. I don't know if IDS is fully backward compatible. WDS is hard to come by.

At any rate, if you swapped your head unit, it's possible your CCM isn't compatible. As I understand it, the non telematics head unit uses a different CCM than the telematics unit. I'm throwing darts. Probably should start with the DTC's.

Thanks Sean W,

I did change the head unit to telematics. There are no codes, just a message on the telematics display stating "no communication". I did not change the CCM. I wasn't sure if they were different. If they are, do you know a part number? I have read some conflicting threads, some stating that the CCM's are the same and some stating that The CCM just needs reprogramming. The part number on the CCM in my car is 2w93-18D993-AE

I see 2W93-18D493-AE, not 2W93-18D993-AE. Sits down by the blower?

Give this a read. I didn't delve into it but it looks like it addresses no climate. I think it's a case of needing to program the CCM using IDS.

You're right, it was hard reading the number up-side-down. I'll read the post. Thanks.
Do you know the procedure for programming the CCM?

No not specifically sorry. I no longer have my SV8 so I can't connect IDS and steer you. The link didn't provide specifics? I presume you have IDS?

Yes I have IDS. I'll work through it and try to find the answer. I'm afraid that the module programming may be tied to the VIN.. I hope not though. the link was not specific..

Right but many others have done this update with several models so I suspect there won't be an issue because of VIN with IDS. You can search S-Type as well and there may be more threads.

Based on this, check your wiring. This one just says plug and play.

This one says you need IDS

Sorry, backing up again as you want to ensure you have the right RCCM. This one is from an S-Type
03-08 Jaguar S-Type Climate Control Module With Navigation Remote CCM EATC OEM | eBay

XR85830 or XR856428?

Thanks for hanging in there with me, but this is the one in my car

2004 JAGUAR XJ8 CLIMATE TEMPERATURE CONTROL MODULE 2W93-18D493-AE | eBay

I bought one like the one you showed, before I started the retrofit and now I'm stuck with it..Unless someone on the forum needs it.

OK Thanks. I wasn't sure of your donor car. That part number appears to me to be the wrong one as it states in the listing "XJ8 04-05 Temperature; AC, w/o evaporator mounted". You have A/C.
