Had a look at the mirror mounting this morning. To get to the sensor I need to remove the rear view mirror mount.
This is clipped onto the mounting button on the windscreen.
Can anyone answer if this just lifts upwards to unclip from the screen.

When I spoke to the glazier about which screen I needed, he asked me if it was heated, and if it had the rain sensor, but no specific question about the automatic mirror. Now when the guys turned up to fit the screen, they had a few different ones in the van, cause they weren't sure which one was needed.

Turns out it's the same screen always for the auto-mirror or rain sensor, and you have to scrape away a black plastic film with a razor to expose the window for the rain sensor.

I've just had a look in the JEPC, and the first question for the windscreen is electrochromatic interior mirror or without.

Four different versions available in the end, breaks down like this;
Electro-Mirror &/or Rain Sensor, Heated, C2S50628

I already mentioned in another post, that when the screen arrived it apparently had no window for the rain sensor, there's a black plastic film that covers the window, this needs to be scraped off, leaving a nice round window.

My car has the rain sensor, and the auto-dimming mirror.
The installer was convinced he had the wrong screen because there was no "window" for the rain sensor. Turns out that all X-Type screens have the window, but it's blacked out & needs to be exposed by scraping away a black plastic film with a razor blade. The screen had a black plastic surface-mounted bracket for mounting the mirror. I'd hope that it'll be the same in the US, where the part number said "with rain sensor" but the actual screen fit's those without too, cause the window is covered in black film.
