Hiya j.g. and greetings from the Coffs Coast;
While I don't have a specific solution to your bluetooth problem, I do have a few suggestions:
Regards,
Ken
While I don't have a specific solution to your bluetooth problem, I do have a few suggestions:
- re-post on the model-specific X-Type forum, where I believe your problem will be exposed to a far broader international audience of expert advice;
- Have your checked all fuses and any loose connectors?
- clarify that your "nothing shows on screen" only involves bluetooth phone connectivity or a malfunction of the screen itself. Are any other features fitted to your car also misbehaving?
Regards,
Ken

Bluetooth
Hi Ken, Thanks for your post.I have posted on the X-Type Forum but so far,no answer.
Checked the fuse but is ok,loose connections/connectors is another problem,where do you start looking without taking the car apart?I've looked in the boot but can't see anything without taking the CD stacker out and the centre column where the storage box is,would be a nightmare to take out.
Everything on the display screen works ok,Radio,Temp. etc but not a thing on the Bluetooth phone displays,can only get "No Phone" when radio is on.
Everything else is behaving ok.Guess I will have to forget about Bluetooth,not really important but as it's in the car and has been working prior to moving back to Perth,it would be nice to get it going again.
Will keep you posted if I can get it working.
Cheers John

John,
I recalled some posts about Bluetooth problems in Perth but when I checked, it was your thread in X-Type forum!

Do you have a Touchscreen (item 5) or an Audio Control Panel (item 6) fitted in your vehicle?

Let's see if we can make some progress with this.

Blue tooth issues
Hi j.s.
My problem was solved with a new phone. I waited the week as instructed by the dealer and my Nokia refused to connect. As there was no software update for my Nokia I figured it was time for a new phone. The dealer could connect his HTC without any problems. Very strange that the Nokia works for 6 weeks and then refuses to connect. Have you tried to pair another phone? The dealer told me to enter ##3 #*# when the car asks as this clears any other paired device. Oh and by the way the first thing I did was replace the battery. This may help. Cheers

West Aussie's suggestion to try an alternative phone is a good plan.
Let's clarify how far into the pairing process you can get.

Presumably it's showing 'No Phone' as in the first diagram?
If so, are you able to enter the pairing code ##3#*# and get as far as 'Discover Me' as in the third diagram?
If you can't enter the code, it can be that too many failed attempts have been made and no more characters can be keyed in. Unfortunately there is nothing to show this! Repeatedly pressing the C (clear) button about 10 times does clear all previously entered characters.
