Default Chassis construction?

Looking to relate potential welding repairs to a local auto-welding shop that is good but will never have seen a Jaguar of any kind.

I know that the X-type shares a fair amount with the UK Mondeo (I remember that fondly from the first half of my life!), but that was not sold over in the US where I am now. Is there another Ford US model that has the same sort of construction and structural demands on the sills? Perhaps the Ford Contour?

I, too, think like Dell, that you will not have much luck finding another platform other than the CD132 (=Mondeo, which is more like "German" than "British", as I was in communication with the CD132 team in Germany, while I was in the X400 team in Coventry), which is similar to the X400 (=X-Type).

Normally I would just simply have put a "like" under Dell's post, which would have put my name under Dell's post and would have indicated that I agree with Dell and I could have done without wasting so many words here. I already made DON B. aware of this unfortunate change on this web-site (only a number now as like). He replied that those changes are being done by an organization nobody has control over...

Okay. I guess I wasn't clear. I did not mean exactly the same, I know that there isn't. I meant similar in nature.... Thanks.

If its a real auto body welding shop I'm sure they've seen similar construction. I'm no expert, but it looks fairly conventional steel monocoque construction.

You could do worse than maybe print off a few of the diagrams to show the shop the individual parts. Start here perhaps?

BTW - Regarding "changes are being done by an organization nobody has control over" - sounds like the Calif Air Resource Board
