Default Chips

Okay so i have a big question, theres a bit of talk about performance chips and what not, some say that they make no difference, and some say they make a quite a bit of a difference, some say that it makes your car worse, and some say, its a very marginal gain. I neeed someone with experience and facts to help mke out here, i'm thinking of ordering the slr performance chip, not the arden one, since it costs almost 1/6 for what i paid for the car.

Default Slr chip

I'm about to try this chip but first I have to identify the IAT censor/module and thats been a problem can't find a diagram nor pics. One member said it was top rear of manifold but I need to be exactly sure before I connect anything. If you can find out where let me know and i'll let you know how the chip worked.

Well I went to the SLR site and they are making claims of 50HP improvement for the X-type chip. Then I look at the chip for a Ford Tempo and they claim the same. I can't say that they chip won't do anything but I am very confident in saying it will NOT give you an almost 25% HP increase in our beloved X Types. It just ain't going to happen--not 50HP anyway.

Arden will work, but you have to send them your ECU, they are excellent, takes about 3-4 days with fed-x

Default Slr chip

I have the Chip connected, i went with the censor on the rear top of the manifold, there is a noticable difference i'm running stock exhaust so i'm not getting full effect, but i do notice an increase may not be 50HP but there is a increase.

Default ZCar website

I read the article from the Zcar website they talk about how simple the chip looks inside and how that no way it can work. First off you must understand or have an idea how the thing works, the censor tells the computer in your card what the air temperature is that coming in the chip then tells the computer it's something else which makes the computer adjust to compensate thus making the car produce more power. There are some people who believe that they need big big toys to work so unless they are spending thousands of dollars it's just not worthy, more power to them. I did notice a little diffrenc and that good enough for me, i'm aware that if i change my exhaust i can tweek a little more but right now this is good enough.

Those things are fake....don't waste your money. THERE IS NOTHING OUT THERE THAT WILL GIVE YOU 50HP gain for 100 bucks! I GUARANTEE that.

You also may run the risk of shorting out your ECU.

And honestly, its a jag. If you are going to mod it, at least use quality parts. Don't put in cheap **** like ricers do to their civics when they want to mod while spending the least money.

Any chip made to fit any model of car is not really going to work well. I would only go with the Arden ECU if I was you.

Anyone have any idea how much it is for the Arden ECU? I read some websites that claimed it was 700 euros or something. How much is it in US Dollars?

The Arden ECu is expensive. You get what you pay for.

Default chip talk

Everyone is free to do as they please it is your right, I can only comment on what I have experienced I never said it gave 50HP I said I noticed a gain, I have not did a dino so how much is unsure. BY all means go spend thousands of dollars, you need to do what makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. I'm not gonna comment anymore about this chip cause i'm not a sales person and no way getting anything for talking about this product.
