Compact Disk Changer in Boot

Compact Disk Changer in Boot
Hi, everyone. I have a question regarding the Compact Disk Changer that was recently installed in the boot of my X-Type. It is hooked up, my radio works, my single CD player works, but when I press the button to release the cartridge the cartridge does not open/come out of the housing unit. I have tried it with the engine running, I have tried it with the key to accessory mode. I've tried it with the key in the accessory mode and pressing the CDC button. I even looked to see if there is a separate fuse for the CDC, but I can't find one. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

You do know that your dealer has to reflash the system so that it recognises that the CD unit is installed? otherwise it simply will not work - you will be pushing the CDC button in vain. I have retrofitted 3 of these CD changers myself (that was easy) then taken them to my dealer for the reflash.

There are 2 connections to the CDDJ. (Compact disc-disc jockey)
One is the electrical connector and the other is the D2B network or BOF (black optical fibre).
The electrical connection sends a 'signal' to the CDDJ and the BOF is LOOPED back to the head unit. You can unplug the BOF at the CDDJ and see if one of the fibres flashes a red light from the head unit when the unit is power up. (key on radio on)
The head unit probably does not recognize the CDDJ as sov211 has stated.
Here is some info I gathered from this forum as well as when I worked at the dealer and attended NP02 (New Product 2002 aka X400)
I believe all this is in the large file area that I (and others) have uploaded.
You can install other devices on the D2B network (ie. PHONE) but they MUST be in a specific order AND configured to the head unit.

I had a cassette player and a six CD in the trunk. I took the trunk CD out and replaced the cassette with an eBay sorced in-dash CD player. I sold the CD on eBay for around $50.
I have an ACM so I installed a Sirrius in the ash tray. Now my CDC button is my iPod/Sirrius selector.
I can honestly say I havent listened to a CD in over a year. Sirrius is the way to go.
I can also run my iPhone through the ACM. So I can use Pandora, or use the GPS app.
