Default CV axel help

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 x type AWD I stripped the axel thread using impact wrench. I will try to re-thread but most likely I will have to replace the Left rear axel shaft. My question is I can not figure out how the shaft comes out of the differential. its looks like it just a slide out is this correct? Would like information before I start to take out. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Alvin

The attached doc will show you the rear half shafts. The full document is available here Workshop Manual in PDF. (thanks to LCGI). This was found in the X Type 'HOW TO' " quick links " found in the stickies at the top of this forums main page. X Type 'HOW TO' " quick links " model specs / info / accessories
This is a great source of information. When you get your problem under control, spend some time there.

The left side pops out. The right side, now that's a whole 'nother deal.
