Well, tell me how it goes. It looks like you need to pull it away from the transmission about two inches to clear the flex plate. Unfortunately you don't have two inches before the front of the motor hits the strut well. You cant pull the front engine cover off either. You will have to modify the strut well or loosen the undercarriage to slide it so the engine can have enough space to clear. Radiator needs to come out to get to the air conditioner. The cats might clear. Take a bunch of pics.

I'd drop it from the bottom. Should be much easier. Search jfenley ( Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum - View Profile: jfenley) on here as he has done it. He also posted several pics along the way. This should help you out a lot.

Good luck!

Good luck with your project, I'm sure any pictures you take along the way will be welcome.

If you are doing it in your garage, try like hell to do it from the top. Dropping it out the bottom is really, really tough without a lift.

Yes. You still need to get those bolts out from the bottom before you drop the engine. Put some air on the cylinder through the spark plug hole and turn the engine one way or the other. It will be easier to get at those bolts before you drop the engine.

Ok then, drop the oil pan, remove the rods from the crank, turn the crank and loosen the converter bolts. That is what you will have to do anyway. It is still easier from under the car...in my opinion.
