engine temp
Anyone notice if their engine bay seems to be a little excessive with the heat? Engine temp is fine, as per the gauge. I find that the sheet metal gets pretty hot and you can’t hold your hand on it for long.
My engine fan is consistently running while I drive. Heat is pouring out of the front of the car by the grille whenever its on. Yet my car has never overheated. So even though the car is extremely hot, it runs fine.
A typical Jag engine will run at around 194F. Some hotter for sure. But that's the norm. If your fan is continuously running you may have a thermostat that is sticking. Sometimes they even throw a code for it.....P0128. Although P0128 means a stuck open thermostat and engine temp. not reaching desired threshold, nonetheless, this code logs when the tstat sticks closed, as well. I don't know why, but it does. Not very common, but happens. Jags have ALWAYS had cooling issues, and even the new ones are plagued with them. They love to leak......if it's not oil, it's coolant.
