Smile Good Looking Wheels for X-Types?

Hey guys what are some good looking, sporty wheels that fit the X-Type? I want 18x8.0 and hypersilver is preferred.
I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible though.

Thanks in advance!

Have these on my x type and love them. Didn't really search for the best price, but just used this link for the info. Can upload a pic of what they look like on if you want.

ex53436, when it comes to rims, that is kinda like asking what the best color is on a car. You will get tons of differing answers. The best advice that I can tell you is to go to a site that can overlay the rims to a replica of your car (may have to go to a rim store and use their computer to try on the rims). Then you can "try on" as many different rims and sizes as you want. Then you can make your decision from there. What looks good to me may be something completely different than what you have in mind.

I change wheels about every 2-3 months, so I've amassed quite a few looks

If you find a set of interest, ping me and I'll give you specs.

I prefer the 17 inch rims. Not the 18's. The rubber band tire look is so Ghetto. In fact, a properly set up 16 inch rim can look great. But the tires must be substantial.

My dad would say the same - but he's in his 60s. Modern car designers would opt for at least a 17" wheel.

I feel that 18s really make this car look more aggressive and are therefore the best size wheel for this car. Also, a wider tire makes the back look less like a buick and more like the cat it is supposed to be. An argument all about personal preference, but I just thought I would throw in my 2 cents

Agreed. I don't think I wouldn't do anything narrower than an 8.5" wheel in the back on these cars. I prefer a 10" to give it shoulders.

Everything is totally preference. My dad thinks I should do 16s with huge sidewalls, tread wider than the wheels and raised white letters, too. He has that setup on his El Dorado.

Thanks for all the input guys. I realize now that many of you have differing opinions, but I'll continue my search for some nice, low-costing wheels. I'm in no rush at the moment but I just wanted to get some good ideas. I really like the Jaguar Valencias that came on the S-Type, so that might be an option too.

Agreed. Your father sounds like my grandfather. He takes one look at my wheels and says that he wouldn't know where the curbs were anymore cause he wouldn't be able to "rub stop." After hearing this I know of one more person who will be on the no fly list for my jaguar

One thing I would look at when buying wheels though is to justify your use of the car. I didn't do this correctly and now whenever I carry passengers in the rear seats I cannot accelerate very hard because my tires are wide enough they will rub on the inside of the fender. Just something to think about. If you don't carry passengers or can deal with being a soccer mom when carting your passengers, then go ballistic with your wheels.

Just gotta shop around.

I was asking this question myself but stumbled on these at a big tire store. They are 19's

One problem with the huge wheels and the "look" are the tiny brakes. Maybe some people don't care, but larger wheels and tires are generally for performance, as well as looks. The X-type's tiny brakes look absurd, and entirely inadequate of "high performance" with such large rims. To me, they say "poser".

Hence my suggestion of wide 17's.

I'm not telling you to put BF Goodrich "Radial TA's" with bold white letters and high sidewalls on the Jag. But I am saying that a more balanced look requires some thought. In addition to the practicality of having at least some sidewall.

17s can look ok and the brakes are certainly tight in there:

But I think the ghetto 18s look pretty good with the factory brakes:

However ghettorific 20s do make them look a bit small

If these cars had any performance characteristics to begin with or I had any desire whatsoever to take it to the track, then maybe I'd get some forged 17s with track tires, but I couldn't bring myself to putting 16s on it.

EZ, I have some 18" OEM Aruba Wheels for sale if your interested. ($450 for the set)
See link below for photos. In my opinion, best OEM wheels for X Type. I have an extra set and the wife wants them out of the garage.

I was keeping them as spares as they came with my X Type.

I prefer the 20" Porsche Sport Technos of those 3 myself. That is the oldest photo/set and since then I have been able to rework the air suspension to get about an inch lower. I need to put those back on in spring.

The first set has snow tires on them - I drive in all seasons 15k+ miles per year and roads/conditions here aren't great, so the 20s aren't a good fit for winter.

Have you looked at Coventry's wheels? They make two styles for Jaguar, Hornet and the Whitley. I personally like the Whitley, but I don't think they'd fit under the 'sporty' definition. The Hornets are a five spoke, and both styles come in hypersilver. I think Exexpat has pics of the Whitleys on his car, they look great.

Happy shopping.

The Coventry Whitleys aren't bad - still have them:

And for factory wheels, the XF Cygnus wheels are nice, too, with the right spacing:

Hmm I may even take these while I sell my 19" OZ wheels and then looking for a gunmetal concave type wheel to put on my X-Type (no luck finding any). Guess, I could always buy the adapters and then go back to my M6 reps...
