Default How to remove cassette player?

I've been looking at different posts for a while but I haven't been able to find how to remove the cassette player.
I could try ways to remove it but I don't want to damage anything. I got an original cd player for the jag from Ebay for only $76 with shipping. It looks great too!
Thanks for the help.

You need to a find a head-unit with an aux port, and you're golden with mobile media players.

yeah ancient, im saving up for a really nice dvd, touch screen set up with awesome speakers, but my only fear is that, i wont have the teephone, ( i know i can't use it but looks good) the TA button, and dolb digital ( which will probaly be in the new sysmtem already) and the other buttons which look good. Is there any way i can upgraed the speakers, without haveing to upgrade the main unit??

Default Well I want an aftermarket cd player and speakers

@ BuckMR2 - Before you flame me (joking) I need to replace the factory cassette player and also either fix or replace the speakers. Apparently only some of the speakers play and it is very crappy.

QUESTION 1
What are my options for replacing the factory cassette deck with a modern CD Player (Alpine preferably)?

QUESTION 2
What are my options for either fixing or replacing the speakers? Amps?

I have an iPhone and would prefer not to use a CD Player at all, plus I'd like to retain the factory steering wheel controls. I figure you have posted this somewhere else but I haven't found any clear, logical, information about this. Anybody willing to give me this information and I'll create clean, decent PDF for it.

Thanks,

Kristopher Leslie

Search for Dennis Black's post - he covers the install of an aftermarket head unit. There are a ton of threads on this stuff, somebody usually starts one about every week.

You could get a factory ACM installed for some connection options.

I prefer to keep my cassette deck and just use a tape adapter for mp3 capability.

Ok guys I need more in-depth information. I am not an installer, but I am not a novice @ car a/v. The biggest problem I have is getting a competent shop to perform the install(s) and retain OEM quality.

I'd like to create a PDF [in hopes it will be sticky, and more organized] to save future questions and fuzzy logic searches.

I'm willing to do all the grunt work but I need good information and details.

Just to give you a taste of what I've gotten around my city, most places won't work on my car since it has a fiber optic network. I went to the best car shop here: Sounds Great Stereo http://www.soundsgreat-stereo.com/

They want me to research the car and bring whatever information I had back to them. They have more than one location so I have a few choices but I'm not sure how or what is tied into the Fiber Optic system. Are the speakers and Head Unit tied in?

Also I have the premium system but I'm not 100% sure how many speakers are installed. I obviously know 2 per door so that is 8 minimum. However, in the center mounted flush on the rear of the trunk I can see one maybe two speakers however it has room for three in there. What is back there? What are my options?

If I can have a game plan I'd feel more confident when I go into these shops. I mean technically I want a new alpine ipod only reciever (using iphone), fix the speakers I got ( I heard the fiber optics could be loose but i have no clue how to check this) or buy new speakers (alpine preferably or cheapest decent brand), and then what about the rear trunk speakers?!?!/! I'd rather have a true sub + amp and and maybe an amp to the door speakers to give a nice sound boost. I'd also like to retain factory steering wheel controls.

Anybody capable of answering these questions i'd be very happy.

This company has all types of aftermarket stereo, navigation etc. They have some units where you can buy an adapter so that your steering wheel controls work.

krisleslie
If you let me know your email address I can email you a PDF file full of electrical diagrams for the X Type including showing the stereo wiring and d2b network.
Up to 2004 the amp/SINGLE SUB were in the rear parcel shelf but this changed after 2004 when the amp and sub were seperate units.
I suspect you have the former???
Can you PLEASE put your car year/model in your signature.
Thanks
