Default Inspecting and tightening flex plate bolts..how??

Hello;

I have a 04 3.0 automatic and I want to inspect and tighten the flex plate bolts in my car to eliminate that as a possibility of some intermittent strange noises I have been hearing.

I read another post where someone indicated there is a black plastic access door and that I needed to turn the engine by hand to get to all the bolts.

Can anyone give me more information or insight on how to proceed with this please?

Thanks!

The access plate is on the bottom inboard side of the trans case. Page 18 of the file below shows what it looks like.

Good luck.

sorry I can't help with this,

My problem turned out being the starter getting strangely caught and causing the strange noises. It's been several months since the new starter and I haven't had the noise again, so we never got to tightening bolts or even looking for them.

What type of noise were you having? Could you try to describe it and when it was occuring? I'm having some strange noise that I'm trying to diagnose as well.

Default noise

the noise i am having is a bit hard to explain.its like a ticking grating after about a minute from being started from cold.the gears change like they should with no jolts or clutch slip. it goes into all gears perfect.and its only done 80.000 from new so its a bit baffling

Actually, I took a video, but I don't think it captured the magnitude of the sound:

Hello, as I replied above, the problem was actually a starter solenoif that hung up and kept on spinning causing the clatter .This has been solved with a new starter .
