Default Instrument cluster removal

I just recently removed the instrument cluster from my 2004 Jaguar X Type 3.0 due to failing state inspection for the air bag light not coming on during start up. I found that the previous owner placed electrical tape over the airbag indicator. I removed it and put the cluster back together.

When I went out to my car, I put the cluster back in and reconnected the battery. When I attempted to start up the car, it did nothing. No cranking and no start up. All interior lights, windows, radio, etc. are working and the red alarm system indicator light in the middle console keeps blinking. I attempted to jump start the car and that didn't work either. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

If battery was disconnected, it should start. Make sure connector is installed right.

Red indicator blinking furiously?

@car5, AGAIN do you know of where you speak? Do you even know the instrument cluster in a Jag is tied into the security system?

Idiots Jaguar engineers decided to do that. Mercedes, Japanese, Jeep people didn't. I mean same year.
If I pay you $5, will you shut up and stop responding to my posts? Unless you are a Jaguar dealer mechanic or Jaguar mechanic working for independent Jaguar shop, I am not interested in your opinion.

This is a Jaguar forum. Your limited understanding of other manufacturers really has no bearing or use in this forum. Who cares what Jeep did/does?

I had the same problem and attempted to solve it with a replacement cluster with the same result. Ended up having the original cluster rebuilt which solved the problem. There'a a security code recorded in the cluster which has to match up with the one in the car's ECM. If it doesn't, the car will not start. The other option is to have the car towed to your local Jag dealer and have them program the replacement cluster to work in your car. You might want to check out the costs of each option to make a decision. Sorry, but I don't know of any other options.

'sorta makes you wonder what kind of person would own a car (not 1, but 2 of them) that he believes was engineered by "idiots".
