Jaguar x-type 2002 limp mode/cruise unavailable/cranks but won`t start after battery
Hi All,
Newbie here. I`m based in Hobart, Tasmania and having some real issues. I`m not very technically minded, so could do with some advice. My X-Type went in to limp mode a few weeks ago and i`ve no idea why. There`s no `check engine light` on but cruise light is on and `cruise unavailable` showing on panel.
Also, my battery went dead after a particularly cold night, so I charged it up and now the motor cranks but won`t fire. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

POmmielad39, I would also check to see if your brake lights are on. If your brake lights are on (say from a failed switch), that will cause the cruise to not be available.
As for the motor not starting. Try this: Hop in the car, insert the key, rotate the key to the RUN position (DO NOT take it to START), hold there for 5 seconds and then roll to the START position. If the car starts then that points at your fuel pump being an issue. The other thing I would look at is the center console to see if you have a red light on next to the e-brake lever. If you do, then you have a security issue.
It would help if you told us what size motor you have to help narrow down the potential issues. I am also assuming that you have a gas/petrol engine and are not dealing with a diesel engine.
